Table Runner Swap

Yippee! My first table runner, with the Yahoo Quilted Table swap arrived while I was gone. What a beauty it is. A big thanks to Chris from Alabama, my swap partner. The colors are perfect. My absolute favorites. Chris told me she is new to quilting and is teaching herself. All I can say is, if this is one of her first projects, she has a great start on this "quilting road" we love to travel. Her work is beautiful! Along with the wonderful table runner she sent along the cutest flour sack towel with an adorable little Easter Bunny on it. No one in this house better use this towel, it's just to special. It's one of those "for show" only treasures, way to cute to mess up on dishes!!! :-) Chris, I can't thank you enough, this is a first experience for me, and you made it so special. Your the best. Your wonderful runner will make my Easter table very special this year!

What a great way to meet friends, with "like" interests, across the world (yes we did have some from other countries). The one I sent out was to a gal in Australia. It brings the miles so much closer for us all. You don't need faces to know when you have a wonderful new friend and buddy in the quilting world to learn from. I look forward to meeting and sharing with many other's in the years to come. Bless the internet, it can bridge gaps and fill voids if you just do a "SEARCH" for something you love.

Too Much Fabric! Is there such a thing???

My friend Tyna, in Alaska gave this to me while I was there. I just can't help but think it is the best thing I have seen lately. It's a wall decal, but I decided to put it on a frame and use a piece of a great fabric from Japan that another friend gave me for Christmas. I believe that Tyna found it on Etsy, but you can also go to FreckledHound.com to see more of these fun things!

An update on Mt Redoubt, it did manage to blow the night after I left. I am so sad. My dream was to get stuck up there for at least a month or so. No such luck! On a better note though, the folks in Soldotna weren't to impacted by it, at least so far. The most of it is going towards Talkeetna and Denali National Park. You have to feel for the folks in the path though. It will be a mess to clean up. I hope not to many of the animals are impacted by it all.

Mt Redoubt

Mt Redoubt is an active volcano, that was recently threatening to blow. All was well until Sunday when it rared up again. It was such a pretty day that we went down to watch it steaming. There was a 15,000 foot plume of ash and steam released that day. Since then they have determined that the ash was just from what had blown in the past and that nothing new was being released accept steam. If only it would just blow about the time I need to go home. I would be stuck up here then, and that would be a good thing to me! Can you tell, I really don't want to go home? :-) As of yesterday it there was very little steam coming out of it again. Oh darn!

Kenai Penninsula

A little late, but I have managed to get some wonderful photos downloaded from my camera. It is cold but beautiful up here. With the clearing skies this week, we have seen some incredible scenery.

This spectacular view is out of Nikiski Alaska overlooking the inlet.

I am enjoying my time in Alaska with my son. It's cold, that's for sure. Yesterday was 6 below when I got up. It did finally warm up to a big 17 by afternoon! :-)
Had a great clear weekend and saw some beautiful scenery. Hope to have some photos posted real soon.

This originates from the 1930's and is also known as a Good Luck Block, or Lucky Block. I decided that it needed a little 2009 update, so I "Googled" coloring book pages and came up with the little leprechaun in the center of the quilt. There is a "plethora" of free information at your finger tips with "Google". This is opening doors in more ways that I ever dreamed possible. Let your fingers "Google" this week and see what you come up with. It's a huge world out there!
