I Need Your Help

OK, I know someone has to have the answer...

I found this planter online at http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/look-car-parts-as-planters-at-75558

Is this just too cool?  And perfect for a congratulations gift, for the place my son works at. They just purchased a new building for their auto shop.

What I am wanting to do, is put  some
"Cars" theme toys among the plants.
Oh please oh please, my blogging buddies, how can I do this?

I am trying to figure out a way to attach them to something I could poke into the planter. Floral arranger I am not, so if you have any ideas, I would love to hear from you!

  1. Wire them from underneath by the axles, and use a stick (one of those floral thingys the flower shops use on the stems ) or how about a chop sticks?
    Just a suggestion ;)

  2. Here's another one :)
Cut a piece of cardboard to the size of the car bottom, push a "U" of wire coat hanger (2 if they're fair size cars) through the cardboard. cover cardboard with foil or something, wire the cars down by their axles through the cardboard base. Push the coat hanger into the dirt.
If you leave the coat hanger on the long side you could play with the height of your arrangement too!

  3. Love the planter but have no idea how to use the cars. I like the previous suggestions about using the wire.

  4. They look like carburator holes near the bottom, can the cars fit in the holes. Find some florist foam and cut the shape of the holes and wrap a wire around the cars and have them lined up along the planter.

  5. First I LOVE that planter! Have you ever taken those kinds of toys out of their packaging? If so you know they put the ties up and around the tires. If you go to any crafting store and get the green flex wire you can put it up through the tire and I would suggest making it long enough to wrap around some kind of stake. That will be way cute! :o)
