Day 8.. it's my day! :-)
HO HO HO and Merry Christmas to you... Christmas in August that is. :-)
A big thanks to Carol and Madame Samm for this delightful hop. It has long been my desire to actually start Christmas projects early...but have I done so? Heck no, it was another one of those empty threats to myself! LOL! With you girls help, I broke out of my old habits and actually got a few projects done!
:-)
First off is this adorable snowman quilt, from none other than The Quiltery. If you've read my blog before, you all know I am a huge fan of this Australian web site. They not only have fabulous quilt patterns, but also machine embroidery. The cost of a years membership is nominal, and they add a wonderful new pattern monthly. It's all down loadable, so it is very easy. Check them out if you like, I linked their name for you! :-)
While I hate to brag, but last month, they had a special CD with some of their patterns that are not part of the club membership. I just had to have it. It's loaded with fabulous Disney quilts!! Ohhhhh Ahhhhh...
But back to this hop! Just look at these adorable faces close up...
While dreaming of Christmas to come!

Just too cute, huh?
I must admit, I am a matchy-matchy person. I pull our my embroidery threads and match everything when I free motion quilt...
but this time it just didn't work.
Once it was all stitched out, it just looked like it was missing something.
Yep, going around everything with black thread just made it come to life!
Who'd a thunk!
Heck, I was so excited about this hop, that I actually dug deep into my bag of projects. This one I bought supplies for a couple of years ago.
The fireplace screen is from Art to Heart.
If that doesn't put you in the mood, I don't know what will!
:-)
Now I know your all thinking...glory be, she actually can sew something that doesn't have a moose on it!
But never fear, I did one of them too, for ya!
:-)
Part of a McKenna Ryan pattern.
You know I couldn't resist!
*****
So now, I am all ready to curl up
in front of the fire place
With my snowman quilt
And have a big ole bowl of Chocolate Moose
Well, on second thought, it's 95 degrees out...
Maybe I'll just dream, with a big ole snow cone, until the weather cools off.
Hoping of course not to irritate the snowmen gods!
LOL!!
:-)
Thanks so much for visiting me today.
It will be Christmas before we know it.
If you have been visiting me during this blog hop, you see I posted everyday.
At the bottom of each post was a "Maxine" ornament...
They all came off of this fun fabric
Leave me a comment, and I will be picking 1 winner, for a yard of this hilarious Maxine fabric, for their very own!
I'd love for you to share with us, your special holiday treats...
stitching, cooking, decorations, anything your heart desires! Feel free to throw in your own "could be a Maxine" comment too!
:-)
I will pick a winner tomorrow, so don't delay!
In the mean time, please stop by and visit my fellow bloggers today. I can't wait to see what they have been up to!
Happy Holidays!
:-)
My humble appologies. I forgot to post my fellow hoppers today!
But they are here for you now!
August 9
Sew We Quilt ( yep, ME)
Great projects - so lovely to see them all. We love Grandma's pavlova at Christmas - it's a favourite!
ReplyDeleteOh, just adore the snowmen - favorite is the one with his arm around the penquin - sweet! And the Chocolate Moose - now a must have. We still roast chestnuts, just like we did with great gran so many years ago. Gotta love Maxine and I have enjoyed her humour through out the Hop.
ReplyDeleteThe fireplace screen is my favorite! As for holidays, our special decorations are ornaments we collect throughout the year to represent our travels and exploits....sometimes it is just a basketball to honor a win by a favorite team and sometimes it is a Santa ornament from Hawaii or something like that. It's always fun to pull out the ornaments and relive all those events from years gone by. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat snowman quilt is gorgeous. I love the fireplace screen. It does scream Christmas. You could of course make that snow cone into chocolate icecream.....To do justice to that Moose.... Just a thought..... Thanks for sharing. You did good!
ReplyDeleteThe snowman quilt is one of the cutest quilts with snowmen that I have seen. I love love it. Thanks for sharing and being part of this blog hop.You surely are ready for the Christmas to come. Have a great weekend and thanks for the fun giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThese projects are great.
ReplyDeleteSo cute your snowmenn.
Thanks for sharing
I love this hop! Your projects are wonderful. I don't know if I would have come up with the black stitching around, but it definitely makes the whole thing work. Chocolate moose - too funny! dezertsuz at gmail
ReplyDeleteAs adorable as your snowmen are your moose still gets the prize! Do you know how many moose you've made? One Christmas tradition I have is to make lots of cookies and candy to give away. My granddaughters love to help decorate the sugar cookies. A family favorite is whiskey cookies. They are a tender butter cookie with a couple ounces of bourbon. The alcohol bakes out and leaves a hint of flavor. I put the dough through a cookie press to make trees, wreathes and snowflakes. A press isn't necessary though. I'm happy to share the recipe with anyone who is interested.
ReplyDeleteFabulous projects - I love the snowmen quilt especially!
ReplyDeleteAt Christmas we like mince pies and sloe gin!!
Thanks for sharing!
The fire screen is my favorite - but they are all so cute!

We always called it "chocolate mouse" squeak, squeak so your wall hanging made me smile. I love your little penguin too.
ReplyDeleteA favourite treat for Christmas is aniseed biscuits. They are really yummy and I normally have some in the freezer to make up when I need cheering up. I also love Russian Toffee, shortbread and all the other treats that go with Christmas.

Always love your work and you didn't fail again. They are all beautiful. My favorite thing to do is on Christmas eve I put out corsants to raise and bake them Christmas morning. My oldest son and family always comes and stays Christmas Eve even though they live 20 mins away. My oldest always surprises me. So Barry and I so far are never lonely on Christmas morning. We did it once and it wasn't much fun. Thanks for having a give away and again love your projects.

I have been looking for a really cute faced snowman quilt to do for Christmas but I don't always like the faces but I do like your pattern I will have to visit your friends. Of course the moose is very cute and decked out for the holiday and your screen front well it is in eye catcher in any room. I enjoyed the Maxine saga and I enjoyed your day...Have fun.

I just love, love, love this snowman quilt. It is sooo beautiful. Not that I am surprised, you do such beautiful work! Your reindeer and moose are great, also. Thank you for sharing your wonderful work. Christmas is much quieter with our families far away. We don't ever get all 3 home at the same time, but when we do get together, there has to be homemade chicken and noodles and homemade pies--made with the help of my 2 darling granddaughters.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday treat is tamales at Christmas, bunuelos on New Years Eve, and of course menudo on New Years day...

ReplyDeleteOh I think all of your projects are just great! That firescreen is wonderful. I knew you'd have a moose somewhere too, and it's too cute. Darling snowman quilt.I have been peeking all week at your projects too. I don't really have any annual traditions, unless you consider that I love to sew and quilt and knit, especially in the winter months.

ReplyDeleteLove that Art To Heart screen, great idea too!! Had to laugh at your chocolate moose, would you believe that in my camper, I have a bar of soap that is a chocolate moose? It was gorgeous for many years but lately it's very bedraggled looking but still smells great! Think I paid about $8.00 for that one bar of soap when I found it but just couldn't resist. lol
Wow! Wow, your projects are outstanding! Thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteWow. Love the quilts. I really enjoy your sense of style and colour. It warms my heart. thanks so much for sharing
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmoose to you! Your projects are amazing. Your are spot on with the black three on your snowfolks. It sure made the quilt pop, pop, pop! Kind of like Rice Krispies - snap, crackle, pop! Job well done. I love your fireplace screen. It is fun, fun, fun. And of course, the chocolate moose is adorable. I had not looked at your blog about the hop. I'm headed to hobby lobby to see if I can find some craft glasses and a wooden "nose" and some paint. I think I can emulate the Santa from Happy Hollow Designs. My quilt quild has asked for small table runners and small quilts for a meet and greet with Gwen Marston and our small quilt auction for June 2014. I think it would be well received. I think maybe I could pull it off, you think? You always amaze me with your creativity and look forward to your projects. Thanks for participating, showing us lots of Christmas eye candy, inspiring us, and making us chuckle with the moose and, of course, Maxine.

At Christmas, we usually make snickerdoodle cookies and homemade chocolate peanut butter fudge, made in the plate that Grandma had. Have tried it in different plates and it never seems to come out right!

That snowman quilt is outstanding. The black outline stitching really made the designs pop. I think it's because they look like drawings rather than a photo. Great color choices in it, too. I certainly enjoyed your chocolate moose so I hope you enjoyed your chocolate mousse, too. Maxine is marvelous - she always reminds me of my sisters!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your projects! It's just hard to focus on Christmas right now. LOL
