Back to my happy place!
While it was cool and rainy most of the time...
We took advantage when the sun came out to make a trip to Homer.
Even before the sun came out we had gorgeous views of the inlet.
There is just something about this place where the glaciers run right down to the sea!
It really is my "perfect" happy place.
We marveled at the tide pattern in the sand.
Then hustled back to shore as the tide was coming back in.
The marina was full and all the boats were in.
My favorite shot of all...
9PM on the Homer Spit.
It just doesn't get better than this!
There was lots of rain...
but that brings lots of flowers
We stopped by the Normal Lowell Gallery in Anchor Point.
It's one of my favorite places to take photos.
In addition to the gallery, you can walk the grounds and visit their old homestead home.
We've come a long way since these days!
Look at this find in the homestead!
What a beauty!
Sadly it was time to head home.
I took Grant Aviation back to Anchorage.
Can't say I'd ever seen a plane with the safety information card stitched into the seat back!
Mt Redoubt was visible across the inlet.
It's prime time fishing season up there.
Our pilot flew us over the mouth of the Kenai to take a look at all the crazy people!
LOL!!
Midnight departure from Anchorage.
The sun is just setting.
Til next time...
Beautiful. I've been to Alaska only twice. I dragged my heels when my siblings wanted to go, thinking that the stories I'd heard were just so much hype. But when the sun rose at Glacier Bay Lodge, I fell in love. I will be thrilled if I ever get back there again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking us along. I loved Homer and long to go back. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI guessed you had to be away somewhere special. And I a, pleased you had the time to do it. looks like it was wonderful. The photos are great.

Beautiful, plain and simple. Great photography.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking Joan. Looks like you enjoyed your time away, even though you had lots of rain. Even here, in the burbs of Chicago, we've had about 7 inches of rain this past week. The weather has been quite erratic lately, with the weathermen totally unable to predict the weather.
