Show Us Your Stripes Blog Hop

Yikes Stripes "Beechnut" gum.
Back from the 60's for those who are too young to remember!
LOL!!
While their spokes animal was a zebra, I went a little different direction,
for this hop.

Meet Griffin. He's my "Yikes Stripes" goofy giraffe!

I'm no artist, so I love looking for free clipart online for my quilts.
This guy popped up when I "Googled" free giraffe clipart.

Once I saw him I knew just what I was going to make.
He is a free download from Clipground.com, you can find HERE.

Clipart is small, so I opened him up in the "Paint" program on my computer
and printed him on 4 pages to be the size I wanted.
I have learned to love using "Paint" that I didn't know I even had on my computer.
It's so easy to enlarge things in it and much less expensive than Office Depot.
LOL!!

I had a plan in my head, so I went right to my Crafter's Edge dies and went to work.
I wanted floating triangles and I knew the Equilateral Triangle die,
would be just what I needed to make it happen.

192 triangles later...
Griffin was complete!

Using the Crafter's Edge Equilateral Die HERE, made for quick cutting
You can cut 4-6 layers at a time.
The strip dies HERE make it so easy to cut fabrics for borders and bindings!

An added bonus is for those of you with "GO" cutters, these dies will work in your machines with the addition of a conversion platform set HERE.

I absolutely love their Crossover II machine, with it's adjustable pressure settings.

Thanks to Carla from Creatin in the Sticks, for bringing us all together to...
As always, you and Carol are the best blog hop hostesses ever!
We are blessed to have you both in the blog-a-sphere.

Make sure you visit my fellow bloggers and see what fun "Yikes Stripes" projects they have come up with!

til next time...
Keep on Stitchin'

  6. Well isn’t Mr. Yikes Stripes Giraffe the cutest thing! I do remember the gum commercials. Great throw back to days gone by. Such a cute quilt. You definitely cannot be looking at Griffin and not have a smile on your face. And SO many triangles. I can’t draw much either so I look for free images to work with also. Thanks for the tip for the clip art site. I’ll be checking that out.

  7. He is such a cutie pie. And he turned into a wonderful quilt. I have had that darn jingle in my head since I read about this hop only I couldn't remember the commercial itself so I 've been thinking I had the wrong Brand stuck in my head. What could gum have to do with stripes. Thank you for this. And I agree with you about ClipArt and Paint They are an amazing tools for our craft.

  27. Great giraffe. Love the triangles. I remember Fruit Striped gum. Looked yummy, but after about 15 minutes it was like chewing an old rubber band, no flavor left. LOL
