Are you a warehouse shopper? Costco and Sam's Club seem to always be on my radar, but I hate hauling everything home in boxes, because then I have to find a way to get rid of them.
Years ago Sam's Club had huge reusable tote bags that were awesome...but can you find them now?
Oh heck no. So I went to work and made my own bags.
But wait... I just doubled it's duty with
Not only do I have a super strong reusable tote bag for my warehouse shopping, but I've just made it waterproof with this new product. By applying it on both the inside and outside, I'm beach ready. The waterproof coating on the outside, keeps water out and on the inside it contains all your wet beachwear.
AND
No worries about leaking meat packages and dirty shopping bags, you can wipe out the bag with disinfecting wipes or throw it in your wash machine using cold water.
Did I mention the bag is huge?
The bottom is 11" x 17"
which also makes for a great size tote when you going to a pot luck.
Why double handles?
The short ones make heavy bags easier to lift and move.
The longer ones make it easy to carry on your shoulder.
It's fun and easy to personalize and dress up your bags with Crafter's Edge.
The Posey Basket and Posey Flowers Set 1 was the perfect way to bring a little summer fun to my bag.
Don't forget the Crossover II Die Cutting Machine is on sale for 25% off this month.
The price automatically adjusts itself in your shopping cart.

ReplyDeleteYour new bag looks fantastic and very handy. I love visiting Costco too ;-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this on outdoor banners or windsocks. Could be a game changer.
ReplyDeleteI loved those giant bags. His turned out really cute. I’d like to try making one since we need to bring our own bags for shopping now. No need for that special vinyl foot while sewing on it?

Large tote bags are so handy and I miss being able to use them since Covid started. Ick on the plastic bags that have become so necessary. I'd use the liquid vinyl on making meal mats for my dogs.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Senior bibs would be great for this one.

ReplyDeleteWow! A very interesting product and the bag is lovely! I am not sure what I would use it on as it is new to me and would have to take some time to think about the best thing to use it on! Thanks for the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteLove the purple, and the size, and the handles - everything!! Brilliant!! I would use the liquid vinyl on the cup holders I make so no coasters would be needed!! Now I iron Wal-Mart and other plastic bags together and use it on the inside to waterproof them...The vinyl would make the entire thing look a lot better! :-) I, too, love Sam's Club and Costco, and I whole-heartedly agree that bags this size would be a God-send!! I did go over to the Thermo-web blog to download the pattern, but I got an error message saying it wasn't available - it was in the owner's trash!! (It's definitely a "first" for that type of error message!) :-) I'll go back now and try again.... If it doesn't work, I'll leave them a note. :-) Thanks for the design!! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI just checked the link on the Thermoweb blog and it is working fine. Sometimes downloads don't like cell phones and tablets. Try it on a computer if you are still having problems. Also, just as an FYI, all the instructions are in the blog post. The pattern in the link, will give you the same instructions. ;-)
DeleteThe liquid vinyl would be a perfect for brushing on place mats for the grand kids. Easy to clean up.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I forgot to mention that I would use it on placemats for my grand nieces!
ReplyDeleteLove your tote bag idea. I would also use it for a tote bag to take with me when I go to water aerobics. Great way to bring home wet swimsuit and towel.
ReplyDeleteYour bag is awesome. Great idea. I'd love to make one in blue. Enjoy your day! š»
ReplyDeleteGreat bag, love the double handles! Would be great beach bag for the grandkids!
ReplyDeleteLove the bag and making it waterproof was brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteHey, the bag would be a great shopping tote using the sealant. Although, I think some beautiful porch pillows made with some of my luscious fabric would be the perfect things to make using the Heat n Bond Liquid :O)
ReplyDeleteGreat bag Joan. I would definitely use the Liquid Vinyl on a bag or 2 or 3. Just would need to figure out what bag first. Love how your applique looks too.

ReplyDeleteSorry about the double comments Joan, but it wouldn't publish and told me that Service was Unavailable, so I tried again and still nothing, then suddenly both published. I tried to delete the second comment and then it told me I didn't have access to do that. What??? I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Thermo-web site to get the pattern, but it says that the file is in the owners trash and unavailable. Sigh.....
ReplyDeleteWe have recently moved to Connecticut and found out we have to pay for bags everywhere! I would use it to make some bags for shopping!

ReplyDeleteI think this might be good for toiletry bags. I have made one for my son who loves it for putting all his toiletries in when he travels but it is not water resistant. Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI would like to use it for various bags to tuck in a suitcase. Smaller ones for toiletries and larger ones for wet or damp clothes or shoes.
ReplyDeleteThe liquid vinyl sounds interesting. I will have to find it and try it. Thanks for the pattern for the tote bag. It looks like a good size.
ReplyDeletePet Mats would be good or maybe waterproofing sneakers.
