I'm excited to share my project with you today. A little stash and pattern busting, was done for this hop and that makes me happy. I've long been collecting pattern from quilt magazines, that I "might" do some day. Know what I mean? LOL!! My notebooks are overflowing and it was time to make em or get rid of em. I found a pattern from the Quilt Sampler 2014 Spring/Summer issue, that was just what I needed for this hop. Can I get a whoop whoop?
This is my "Polar Bear Plunge" quilt.
(We even got some snow, so these bears could play outside for their photos)
You can see I changed it up a bit from the original pattern. While I loved all the arctic animal appliques, I really wanted to make it just about the polar bears, this time. Out came my hand dye fabrics that I have hoarded long enough!
You may have noticed the clipart at the end of my posts this week...
I saved my favorite for last...
This cutie is can be found at Clipartix.com
I love taking free clipart and turning them into appliques.
It's such a fun way to add a touch of whimsy to a quilt.
Speaking of adding whimsy...earlier this week Sharon Voorman shared a link
for the sweetest little polar bear stuffy. I had already planned to make him for the hop, but had only printed the pattern. That little "virtual kick in the rear" from you Sharon, make me get it in gear!
LOL!!
So I now have this sweet little guy to go with my Plunge quilt.
He is a free pattern from Fluffmonger, you can find
Check out all their free patterns while your there. They have an adorable Valentines one and V-day is just around the corner. There are even animal noses for face masks, that are just too cute.
My little "sleuth" of bears seem to get along quite nicely.
Yes, a group of bears are called a sleuth or sloth, really they are. You can check it out on
(Who knew!)
I do hope you have enjoyed the "Polar Bear Plunge" blog hop. The only plunge that promises to keep you warm and dry in front of your computer.
LOL!!
A big thanks to my fellow bloggers for making this hop a big success!
You all "rocked" the hop.
I opened up my new "Country Register" newspaper this week and found the perfect saying
to end this hop...
til next time...
Keep on Stitchin'

ReplyDeletehi Joan I’m thinking your modified version of the quilt is much cuter than the original. I love the photo on the snow. I tried that with my Nora Bear but her pretty colours were washed out in the photo. The little stuffy is so stinking cute! Thanks for putting on such a fun hop! Loved checking everyone’s posts and being a part of it! 😉
