What's my favorite when I think of music?
Elvis!
Yep... he rocked my heart many years ago, and still does today!
I had a row by row that was in my UFO stash and a song in my heart, so I knew just what I was going to do.
After finding all kinds of record labels, album covers, and memorabilia pictures online, I grabbed my "Crafters Edge" circle dies and started cutting out records.
Google is your friend when you are looking for fun ideas! Here's a close up of some of my finds...
I printed out my favorite record labels on printable fabric sheets and fused them onto the records. Then added the fun little extras to my quilt! My printable fabric sheets were pretty old and had started to yellow. I was happy to find that it really didn't effect the outcome of things.
Now the big added bonus for me was being able to actually go to Vegas to take my photos. If you saw my post yesterday, you know that Carol Swift chauffeured me around for 3 incredible days!
We had so much fun causing trouble at the Clark Country Museum in Henderson NV.
But honestly we were just 2 girls with quilts!
Really we were.
:-)
The church was the perfect place for Elvis to cause a little trouble though. After all, he was a church going boy, so crashing this 60's service didn't seem so out of line.
Maybe...
But the fun didn't stop there, because down in Boulder City at
Sherman's House of Antiques...
as Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi lended an assist to me, as well.
but this buccaneer...
ole Pirate Pete tried to steel my booty, I mean bounty!
HAHAHAHA
A big thanks to Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks for hosting this fun hop!
It was like music to my ears!

Oh, Joan, me, too! My sister was the 50s teen who listened first, but though 10 years younger, I grew up listening to Elvis right along with her, and still love his music! It didn't impact me the way some others did, but it was and still is a definite favorite. I love what you did with the records and album covers. It's kind of what I did with Wizard of OZ crazy quilt blocks with original book covers in the middle of each block. It's so much fun to add things like that and it made your Elvis quilt just perfect!
ReplyDeleteToo much fun! Love the quilts!!
ReplyDeleteSo creative. I love it and I'm so glad you two could have fun with your quilts. So appropriate for the hop!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun quilt! I loved reading part two of the Vegas adventures.
ReplyDeleteJoan, what an awesome quilt! You are sew creative! I am not an Elvis fan, but I do love that quilt. You have paid homage to him in a neat way. How special that you could go to LV and spend time with Carol and seeing neat places (and getting cool pics)! My nephew lives in Henderson. I hope we get to visit him someday (and then I hope I can meet up with Carol for a bit too).
ReplyDeleteWonderful salute to Elvis! Your photos show the quilt off as well as Carol's did for her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful quilt! I loved yours adventures and photos. So nice! And thanks for all the tips on your process to make the quilt.
ReplyDeleteSO much love and fun oozes from this post. Your love of Elvis and the fun that happened in Vegas (some of which is staying there... lol) Your quilt is so great and so perfect for the hop. And then all these super cool pictures. Vegas is such a great place to take a quilt for pictures and Carol knows all the good places.
ReplyDeleteWell, you two clearly had fun and you found some great photo ops! I'm sure you will enjoy this quilt for years to come!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! I love that you made your albums and had such a blast THEN added to the fun by making the perfect road trip. I wonder though, is it asking you to go to Graceland?
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it! Love Elvis, too, so the quilt the video, the photos - perfect. I remember the first time I saw Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show; we were at Gma's. Looks like you and Carol had a great time and the photo ops were wonderful for this hop.
ReplyDeleteSuper creative nod to Elvis! Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos turned out great for that wonderful quilt. Too bad we can't go on adventures with every quilt!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, and what fun adventures you and Carol had, and wonderful pictures! Love it!

ReplyDeleteOh yes indeed Elvis-you couldn't have picked a better influence for this hop project! I love his music! We visited his mansion in Memphis a few years ago, goose bumps I tell you!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun adventure between quilty friends! It looks like a lot of fun and your quilt is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love it! So fun!
ReplyDeleteJoan, this is an amazing quilt! I love that you already had a Row by Row ready to go for this quilt! Fabulous idea to print up your favorite records and include in your quilt. It's a fun tribute, and even more fun to have your photo shoot with Elvis himself. I think you made the quilt just so you could go to Vegas and meet up with Carol!! What a blast you must have had.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tribute to the king! Those record images you found on the web are awesome! Looks like you and Carol were having too much fun! Those characters helping out with your photo shoot were perfect!
ReplyDeleteHe crooned his way into many hearts, not to mention the gyrations and head tossing that were crazy in those days made hime memorable. I love his music, and your quilt is awesome. Wow!
ReplyDeleteFantastic quilt and such fun you and Carol had!! I love Elvis. You should check out Pastor Bob Joyce on YouTube. You can hear Elvis sing and preach!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great laugh! Your Elvis quilt is great and i love all the pics from the photo shoot. Perfect place for it. I quite enjoyed the Blues Bros pics.
