Shades of Blue Sew It - Show It Challenge

What better theme for January than "Shades of Blue". We are all coming down off the holiday season "high" and settling in for those long winter nights, if you live in this part of the world anyway.

It was kind of ironic, that when Carla announced the theme, I had just tripped over these...
If you don't have a toddler in your house, you may not recognize that they are Disney's "Frozen" theme shoes. Elsa is just about all we talk about here. You know she freezes everything in sight.
And there was my inspiration!
My "Shade of Blue" challenge project is...
"The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway"

You likely know I am an applique junkie, so once again I searched online for
"Elsa" clipart.

I printed off the picture, and then using the Microsoft "Paint" program, I doubled the size. Using a light box, I traced all the parts onto "HeatNBond®Lite" fusible web.
I like to trace all of the embroidery lines onto the web with a "Sharpie" pen, so they are nice and dark. Before removing the paper from the back of each piece, I place them on my lightbox and pencil in those lines on the front side of my fabric.

I like free motion all the embroidery lines with my machine and it makes it so much easier to stitch.  It also aids me in more accurate placement of the applique pieces.

The snowflakes are done with the Accuquilt GO "Holiday Medley" die and the lettering was done with my "Crafters Edge" alphabet dies.

I would love to tell you that "the cold never bothered me anyway", but I would be a big ole LIAR!
I happened to have this quilt done weeks before the hop, and the day I took photos...

Yep, it was -13 outside.
We broke decades old records!
I could have waited to take the photos, but we had snow, and we had cold...
It just seemed like perfect timing.

I got a little crazy when I was cutting snowflakes, and I have 3 leftovers.
They are cut from white "Island Batik" fabric.
So, lets have a give-away.
Unfortunately with the postage rates, I do have to limit this to USA residents only. If you would like these snowflakes,  leave me a sweet comment telling me how you would use them and I will pick and announce the winner Friday the 27th!

Now hop on over and visit my fellow bloggers today. Hopefully they have something that will warm you up a bit!

Another Racer Hits the Track

You've seen them before on my blog...
My family loves racing.
Hubs retired from it years ago, so we could build a house.
But my oldest and his wife are racing crazy.

So when little man was born, he needed a race car quilt as well.
This time it's a bright red car.

This years old pattern sure has gotten its use.

You don't see patterns like this anymore. LOL!!
It's held together with a LOT of tape!

I made the first one in 1982 for my oldest son.

Sister got hers in 2020.

So there you go little man...You will be hitting the track before we know it!

Lets face it, it's in your blood!
