Coming soon...October Challenge "Monster Mash"

It's our most favorite time of the year, and this year I get to host the Halloween challenge.
Whoop Whoop!
Sew something scary, not scary, or something in between. If it's Halloween related you know we will love it.

We have a great lineup of  "Monstrously" fabulous bloggers, just waiting to share their ghoulish delights with us!

If you want to join in, now is the time!
Spots are limited, so send me your info ASAP!

It's a crazy fun time of the year, so make your plans for the November
"Turkey Trot" Challenge that I am hosting as well...

Think Turkeys, thankfulness, or Thanksgiving fabric. November also means beautiful colors of fall, so sew something with orange, golds, browns, greens or cranberry reds.
Let me know if you want to join in.

December brings us to Carols yearly "Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange" challenge.

Recipes are optional. You can share or not. Tell us about your Christmas traditions. Show off your Christmas decorations/tree. Spill your funny Christmas Stories. If it's about Christmas, we want to hear about it.

Let Carol know if you want to join in on the festivities!

And that wraps up the challenges for this year.

We are excited to say, that we have already put on our thinking caps and are planning for next years blog hops. We have some fun ideas rolling around, but would love to hear what you think we should do!
Leave a comment with your suggestions!

Were in the World Was I?

NOTE: This post is photo heavy!
Can you guess where I was?

Enjoying the lush beaches, in the warm sun...

This help you figure it out?
LOL!!
This is the Great Salt Lake. We took a little side trip before heading home from the "Garden of Quilts" in Lehi Utah.

My good friend Carol Swift from "Just Let Me Quilt" turned me onto this show 3 years ago now, and it's my favorite show to go see. It's a non-juried outdoor show set up in the beautiful 50 acre "Ashton Gardens" at Thanksgiving Point. There is no better place for quilters of all levels to shine and share their works. Unfortunately Carol couldn't make it this year and oh, did I miss her. Next year Carol, next year!

Here is just a sampling of the hundreds of quilt on display.

This one in particular, absolutely blew me away!

The details were just incredible

and yes there was an actual phone and pair of scissor in the back pocket!
I was so enchanted with everything about it that I failed to get a photo of the information on who created it.  If by chance anyone knows who it is, please share it with me.

Check out this quilting on one of the quilts. It was on a minky backing.
Be still my heart!

The gardens are amazing.

We were quite captivated by these strange looking plants. My friend had an app on her phone and was able to take a scan it and find out it was a balloon plant. Who knew!

This trip is usually a 3 day trip for me, since I watch my grandies. One day driving there, the show and one day driving back. But this year I had a whole week off, so my friend and I made it a quilt retreat week as well. We loaded up the car with our machines and supplies and headed out. You would have thought we were moving we had so much packed! LOL!!

The hotel room was a perfect place to quilt. I didn't have to get out of bed all day.
Coffee and my machine was at my fingertips!
LOL!!
But we did get out and do some serious quilt shop hopping while we were there.

Let me just say, not all quilt shops are created equal. This was the outdoor patio and gardens at the "Quilters Lodge" in Draper, UT. If you think this is fabulous, you should see the inside of the shop!
Be still my heart and yes, my credit card was on fire here.

It was a great week for sure, but being able to see these inspirational gals and hear them speak again, was icing on the cake.

Karen Ashton, on the right and Jenny Doan, Misty and Natalie from Missouri Star were the real hits of the week. What fun and inspiring ladies they all are.

If you have never heard of Karen Ashton, her husband was the co-founder of Word Perfect and sold it in 1994 for almost a billion dollars. He bought farm land and gifted it to his wife, who chose to build a community garden and a farm experience. A place that every one could come and enjoy.
Now that's some community garden Karen and us quilters love it!

One final note...This one got the "Halloween" in me going!
Yes, I am on the waiting list for the pattern that is supposed to be released this week.
Ohhh, I can hardly wait.

It's a Dogs Life Challenge

This months challenge is all about the dogs for me.
With 2 little ones around all week, I have become an aficionado, when it comes to cartoons. There are plenty of them featuring dogs, but "Bluey" is my little ones favorite and I have do say, it's mine too. If you don't know about "Bluey" it's an Australian cartoon about a blue healer family. The story lines all revolve around parents playing with kids. It's really a heart warming show that I love watching as much as my little's do. When Carol announced this theme, I went right to the internet in search of Bluey clipart and was all ready to start on an applique quilt, BUT...then I saw these embroidery designs at Applique Designz and it was game over!

I have not been in love with my embroidery machine for a very long time. Most days it works my last nerve, in fact I even put it up on Facebook marketplace and tried to unload it! Unfortunately or as it turns out fortunately, I wasn't able to. These designs were just so darn cute that I decided to give them a try and was pleasantly surprised. Was it the digitizing or was it the threat of me selling it off?
Whatever it was, my machine behaved beautifully for a change.
Yes, I thanked my lucky stars. LOL!!

I embroidered and quilted each block separately and put them together, with the QAYG method.

The 2 stars of the show, are Bluey and Bingo.

What all lead up to this, was a challenge a few months ago where I was captivated with this You Tube video, one of our fellow bloggers shared...

It's been on my radar ever since and actually how I found the embroidery designs

Someone is going to have to grow into his...

But it's safe to say this little girl loves hers!

Now hop on over and see what the dog days of summer has brought out, in my fellow bloggers today.
Be sure to leave them a little love with a sweet comment too!

New Challenge Starts Monday - It's a Dog's Life

As the last of our dog days of summer wind down, we are celebrating them with
"It's a Dog's Life" challenge this month.
Carol from "Just Let Me Quilt" is our hostess with the mostess!
The rules were to make anything dog or vintage related. Sew your project with dog themed fabric or applique/embroidery of dogs. As an added challenge if dog's don't ring your bell, think vintage. Vintage blocks, quilts, fabrics or whatever old designs make you happy.
Something for everyone! That's what these challenges are all about.

You can visit these fabulous bloggers and see how they have risen to the challenge!
