You know it's my favorite time of the year, and OHHHH..
have we seen some "Wicked" projects this year.
Here on my homefront...
the decorations are up and my little man is so excited. He turns 2 in a couple of weeks and is starting to increase his vocabulary. "Ween" was one of his favorite words and he has just mastered adding "Hallo" to it. LOL! His other favorite word is "spider", so the spiders were hung on the wall with care, in hopes that a witch with candy soon would be there.

Being I am such a witch...I knew this had to be my project this year.
After all, you don't want to mess with me, when I have a needle in my hand.
HEHEHE
She just melts my "witchy" little heart!
This is the "Quilted Witch" by Lori Holt.
She's biggie, the quilt finished up at 76" x 89",
The pattern is 64 pages long and worth every page.
It might look a little intimidating to sew, but it's done in sections and is very easy straight forward piecing. Not to mention a great scrap buster.
She's almost as tall as I am and fills my 4'x8' design wall and then some. In fact, I have nowhere big enough to hang her around here, unfortunately.
Here she is in all her glory!
I do apologize, but photos were kind of a last minute thing and I didn't have time to iron it. What's that saying...you gotta jump when the iron is hot or when your son agrees to get on a ladder to take a photo for you.
HAHAHA
This project has called my name, since I saw this a year ago at the "Garden of Quilts".
I could hardly wait til the pattern was released. You may remember seeing one of these witches earlier this year. Carol beat me to the finish line, with hers!
It's not my fault. I put myself on the waiting list to be notified when the pattern was released.
Needless to say, I was never notified and Carol had already bought her copy and was working away on it. LOL!! As they say, all is fair in love and war and I do love Carol!
After reading Selena's post on Tuesday, I decided to throw this one into my post as well. At quilt retreat last month, everyone made a bear paw table topper in beautiful fall colors. Well, I should say everyone but me. I went my own direction with Halloween fabrics.
Not that Selena had problems with her project, but I have to say, never have I ever had so many. The half square triangles going around it, did their best to drive us all crazy! Blame it on the directional fabrics in my case, but we all struggled with the direction of the spin on all those triangles. Some gave up and made a solid border around theirs and called it good. As for me, none of my corners even come close to matching each other. I cried "Uncle" and decided it was finished!
I haven't even had the courage to quilt it yet.
There you go...my epic fail, but done in my favorite fabrics of the season!

ReplyDeleteI went to the Garden of Quilts Show last month and I saw a few of those witch quilts there too. It is quite a large quilt. I love your darker fabric colors for the dress. I remember Carol working on hers and thought it was cool. Now you both have great quilts!
ReplyDeleteLove that Witch! I remember seeing Carol's--sew neat! A quilty friend of mine is working on one; will be neat to see it finished. That table runner is neat too, and I wouldn't call it a fail at all. Still does the job and is still Halloweeny. Enjoy that little grandson! We sure have fun with our little 2-yr-old granddaughter!

It's so exciting to see you finish that monstrous Quilted Witch (she is REALLY big for sure.) She looks wickedly dashing in those fabrics! I agree...the directions were so easy.
