Oh my goodness, time really does fly. I can't believe it's been almost 3 months since I posted last.
I took some much needed time off to celebrate the holidays, spend time with family, and try to organize my sewing room mess, but that really doesn't look like anything really happened there. Mostly moving stuff from one place to another, then spending hours looking for where I put things. LOL!!
I did get busy on the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt this year and actually finished it.
There were lots of pieces, way to many to count...
but I think piecing them was much easier than past mystery quilts.
These were the blocks, but it was the sashing that were the star of the show this year. They really changed up the look of things.
I wasn't the only one who loved the quilt this year. Ole Denali claimed it as his right off the bat, making it almost impossible to bind!
We had an arctic blast come thru town a couple weeks ago, and while it was miserably cold...
It made for a perfect day for photos. The colors really shine in the sunshine.
On the personal side, I don't think I ever shared a picture of my newest grandie.
This is Ms. Kinsley
Needless to say, she is the apple of everyone's eye!
As for the other 2... they are as silly as ever.

Lastly BeaQuilter is hosting a blog hop in March...
Dust off a Quilt Book Hop.
I will see you on Wednesday March 5th!
Your BH mystery quilt is gorgeous! So are all your grands. Nice to see a post from you.
ReplyDeleteLove your Bonnie Hunter mystery and so glad to see the new addition! The blast has not been kind....glad there is a little relief here this week.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is totally amazing and so YOU with all those pieces. I love the colors! Cute little people in your family and I'm sure they are spoiled by you. xo
ReplyDeleteI have missed you. Always looked forward to your posts whether they were here or on Facebook. I'm so glad that you've been enjoying yourself. The newest grand is the sweetest. Grands are fabulous - lots of fun and not much work. :) Love the newest quilt by Bonnie; amazing that you've finished it. I agree that the borders are show-stoppers. I think too many pieces for me. Enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteLove your version of, "Old Town." Looks awesome in your winter landscape. How sweet to receive a new grandbaby...adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove your Old Town quilt! It looks fabulous in the snow with the red side of the building in the background. I started choosing colors and even made a handful of little squares, but too many pieces for me and too many small pieces! In the end I am glad I didn't make it as I knew I would never finish it and while I loved the star block, I didn't like that the sashing overpowered the stars. If I do make it, it will be something smaller and without the sashing. Sweet grandkids. ~Daryl
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt, Joan, and it's so good to hear from you!! I saved the prompts but just couldn't get into all those tiny pieces! It's certainly beautiful though! I really love the border. I loved seeing your adorable grandies and especially your newest addition! She's a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful children! The quilt is pretty too, and loads of scrappy fun. I made it as well. 😊
ReplyDeleteOh I had to laugh when you said you took time off to straighten up your sewing room. I was thinking I'm going to tell her to help me and then I read the next line. Not so much and you moved stuff around to lose it. That so sounds like my dilemma lately. LOL Love the quilt! And the colors. My favorite shot of it is in front of the red barn and the snow. Needs to be a Christmas Card. That new grand is a beauty and the other littles are adorable.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your post.
ReplyDeleteYour mystery quilt is stunning. I am very impressed at how quickly you have finished it, considering all that has been happening. I have to agree about the sashings. That really changed the appearance of the blocks/quilt.
And i do agree about photos in the snow. The quilt against the fresh white makes it glow.
Wow, that must have been so cold. And to think in only a few months you will be wishing for the snow to return.
I can't believe how quickly Kinsley is growing. Wow! And as for the other two, they look like so much fun.
I hope everyone is well now and that you can sneak in some more sewing time. In between grandchildren.
Several awwwwww-worthy things! That quilt is absolutely spectacular but have to say I'm very glad it was you making it and not me. And such sweet little grandies to shower with love...aren't they wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour Old Town Mystery is lovely, and your new granddaughter is adorable! Good to hear from you again!
